"These artists have a passion for the creative process, for watching things evolve from their own ideas through their hands into the objects around us. There is often a connection to places the artists have been, or to things they have seen or done."

Welcome to our 4th Annual South Coast Open Studio Tour!
Our collective group comes together eacj year to produce a studio tour connecting artisans from Tiverton, RI to Dartmouth, MA. The upcoming Open Studio Tour on the weekend of August 23rd & 24th, 2008 will be our 4th Annual Summer Event. Participating studios will be open 11-5pm and this tour is free to the public.
Supported by artists for artists, the August SouthCoast Open Studio Tour Weekend provides the unusual opportunity for a first-hand look at local art and craftsmanship that flourishes on the South Coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. This event brings together small independent studio artists and artisans who produce their own work and are eager to demonstrate their creative skills and crafts to the public. Most of these artists and craftspeople work out of home studios and sell thier work primarily through galleries and craft shows. Others join together in co-operative studios and galleries.
Travel off the beaten path to discover these studios on the back roads, down narrow lanes, and in local villages, far away from the malls and shopping centers, stopping by each artists' studio and shop from Tiverton Four Corners to the Little Compton Commons and the quaint little SouthCoast village of Adamsville in RI, continuing through Westport, MA, to the villages of Russells Mills and Padanaram in Dartmouth, MA.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get acquainted with the artists and their work on a personal level. Ask them why they make their art. Every piece has a story behind it. Visit them in their own creative environments and connect the product to the personality and place and how it was created. You will see pieces in many stages of design and a variety of materials and machinery which the artists can tell you about.
We look forward to your visit. Here is a glance of the artists involved in the tour this summer. The map below and following town pages have images and information on these studios and additional links to their individual websites.
